Fuel Injection

Fuel injectors are easily clogged. It can rob your engine of fuel economy and performance and greatly increase exhaust emissions. The opening at which the fuel injector mists into the combustion chamber is approximately the same width as a human hair. Varnish is the name given to the sludge build-up which causes a restrication in fuel flow to the injectors which ultimately reduces your cars performance.

This can cause cold start problems, hesitations and the engine to miss.
BMR can remove the injectors and service them to regain that  “as new” feeling and performance.

Brakes
Your vehicles brakes are no doubt the most important safety factor in your vehicle. One of the simplest ways of knowing there is a problem is to check the brake warning light on the dash. If the light will stays on your vehicle requires attention.
Disc brakes
Disc being Machined
Below is a list of other less obvious signs that indicate your brakes should be checked at Belmont Motor Repairs.
• Vehicle pulls to the left or right when braking
• Vehicle loses grip when braking
• Brakes screech or squeal
• Takes longer to stop
• Steering wheel shudders under braking
• Brake pedal is low, hard, soft or spongy
How your brakes work:

When you apply pressure to your brake pedal the pressure from the brake pedal forces the brake fluid to engage a series of mechanisms that push the brake pad onto the disc rotor bringing your vehicle to a stop. The brake pads are moved on a calliper which is the part that applies and releases the pad from the rotor. The calliper comprises of a housing with a piston that moves back and forth when you apply and release the brakes. Rubber parts inside the calliper ensure that the brake fluid doesn’t leak from it.

The brake fluid is responsible for transferring the pressure that is applied to each wheel to make it stop. It is an important aspect of your vehicles braking system which often gets overlooked. Brake fluid has to withstand the extremely high temperatures generated by hard or constant braking. Brake fluid is a hydroscopic fluid which means that it absorbs moisture i.e. from the surrounding air.

Batteries

The battery in your vehicle does a lot more than just start your car. The electronic engine management systems, advanced stereo systems and accessories of modern day vehicles are drawing and relying on the battery more than ever.

Your vehicles battery constantly provides power to all of these functions, so you need to ensure that your battery is maintained and well serviced so that you can be sure of longer battery life.

Today's high-tech electrical and engine management systems require the correct battery installation procedures with some vehicles needing to be reprogrammed once the battery runs flat or the battery has been disconnected. By not following these correct procedures you could risk expensive damage to your vehicle.

At Belmont Motor Repairs, our technicians can correctly install a battery for you and give you the satisfaction of a warranty on your battery.

Suspension

Your vehicles suspension is there to provide a comfortable, smooth and safe drive on our bumpy roads. Its purpose is to keep in constant contact with the road so that braking, steering and driving systems are at their most effective.
Suspension
Suspension

Shock absorbers/struts, springs, ball joints, tie rod ends and suspension bushes are all parts of your vehicles suspension which need to be inspected to ensure your suspension is in top condition.

An interesting fact is that faulty suspension can increase your stopping distance which could be the difference between crashing or stopping safely.

If you notice any of the following items on the list it may be time to get your vehicle inspected.

• Vehicle doesn’t handle properly around corners
• Vehicle dips forward excessively
• Tyre showing unusual tread wear
• Shock absorbers leaking fluid

For total peace of mind bring your vehicle to Belmont Motor repairs and have one of our technicians inspect your vehicle.

Wheel Alignment

A Wheel Alignment is measuring and then positioning the wheels of your car in a way that ensures the least amount of wear for your tyres. Correctly set to your vehicles specifications it will extend the life of your tyres, be safer to drive and improve handling and fuel economy.

A Wheel Alignment is recommended when:
Tyres are being replaced
Hitting a nasty pothole or kerb
If your steering wheel isn’t straight
If your vehicle wanders or pulls either side on a straight road

Each vehicle has different specifications for measuring alignments and at Belmont Motor repairs we have all the reference material available to ensure that your vehicle is aligned with the best possible results.

Wheel Balancing
Wheel Balancing ensures that your tyres and wheels don’t have a heavy spot that may cause vibration and premature tyre wear. A tyre is out of balance when one section of the tyre is heavier than the others.
A wheel balance redistributes weight around the tyre to extend the life of your tyres and increase your vehicles safety.

Unbalanced tyres may also cause accelerated wear of your shock absorbers, struts and other steering and suspension components.
Tyre Balancer
Tyre Balancer
Your vehicles wheels should be balanced: When replacing your tyres, When rotating your tyres, If your steering wheel is vibrating, If your tyres are particularly noisy.
Regular rotation of tyres is a proven method for promoting even wear and therefore extending tread life. If uneven wear has occurred, this may be due to worn suspension components, vehicle misalignment or incorrect tyre balance. These concerns cannot be corrected by simply rotating the tyres.
Front to back same side rotation is acceptable when tyres are wearing unevenly. If the spare is included in the rotation it should be exchanged with the tyre allocated to the right hand rear position.
